Zopiclone 10 mg is a medication which is used in the short-term treatment of insomnia in adults. It is well known under the brand names Imovane and Zimovane. This medication can help if you have trouble initiating sleep. It can also improve sleep efficiency by preventing nighttime and early morning awakenings. It belongs to the non-benzodiazepine class of medications which are known to have little or no effect on sleep architecture. The use of zopiclone 10 mg for anxiety can also help treat sleeping difficulties caused by feelings of nervousness or worry.
The recommended dosage is as follows:
- For adults, take one 10 mg zopiclone tablet just before bedtime.
- For elderly patients, the treatment should be started at 3.75 mg or 5 mg zopiclone (tablets can be split). The dosage may be increased if clinically necessary depending on effectiveness and tolerability.
- Zopiclone should always be taken orally. The tablet should be swallowed whole with a glass of water without sucking or chewing just before retiring for the night.
- Always ensure that you have 7 to 8 hours of undisturbed sleep so that you can wake up feeling well rested.
